Fred Schlosser was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois. He attended Christ the King Grade School and Griffin High School (now Sacred Heart-Griffin). Mr. Schlosser graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1985 with a degree in Finance.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Schlosser worked as an investment officer for Marine Investment Management Company, a subsidiary of the original Marine Bank in Springfield. There, Mr. Schlosser assisted a team of portfolio managers in buying and selling fixed income and equity securities for various pension funds.
Mr. Schlosser enrolled at Southern Illinois University School of Law, where he excelled in the National Moot Court Competition, became a member of National Order of Barristers, and was selected as a Notes and Comments Editor of the SIU Law Journal. He graduated cum laude in 1992.
During law school, Mr. Schlosser interned with the law offices of Metnick, Barewin and Wise in Springfield and was hired as an associate by that firm in 1992. In 1997, Mr. Schlosser and fellow Leading Lawyers, Gordon Gates and Peter Wise, founded Gates, Wise & Schlosser, P.C. The firm was renamed Gates Wise Schlosser & Goebel when Todd Goebel became a partner.
Mr. Schlosser concentrates his criminal law practice in representing defendants in state court charged with traffic, misdemeanor and felony offenses, including DUI, Aggravated DUI, arson, reckless homicide, murder, burglary, drug offenses, fraud and other white collar crimes. Mr. Schlosser also represents individuals facing criminal charges in the federal district court for the Central District of Illinois.
Mr. Schlosser concentrates his civil law practice in representing individuals and their families against insurance companies, medical providers, businesses and individuals for serious personal injuries or death caused by the intentional or careless conduct others, including trucking accidents, car accidents, motorcycle accidents, slip and fall accidents, dog bites, nursing home neglect and wrongful death claims.
Mr. Schlosser also has a robust administrative law practice. He represents individuals who are challenging the revocation of or seeking reinstatement of their FOID cards or right to possess firearms. Depending on the nature of the firearm possession prohibitor, these challenges can be directed to the Director of the Illinois State Police, the Firearm Owner’s Identification Review Board, or the Circuit Court where the individual resides.
Mr. Schlosser was a member of the Capital Litigation Trial Bar and, prior to the abolition of the death penalty in Illinois, was authorized to act as lead defense counsel in death penalty cases.

Mr. Schlosser has been married to his wife, Tricia, since 1999 and is the proud father of two sons.
